A tale of sorrow and woe over the loss suffered, when a close relative or friend dies...

Martin Thaulow's video art project, "The Graveyard Project", is a tale of sorrow and woe over the loss suffered, when a close relative or friend dies, as well as the taboos around death.
A series of videos played simultaneously on monitors in an exhibition room or a public place are showing bereaved friends or relatives by the grave of the deceased. These movies aim at establishing a non-verbal enclosure around the bereaved and the spectator -- a room for dialogue with grief becoming the main element of the viewer's thoughts. The visitor will move from one dialogue with a grieving person to another and experience the many faces of sorrow as well as the differing cultural and religious backgrounds of the mourners. Life is frail and grief does not change with social status, cultural environment or religious beliefs or denominations.
